Banded Shower Curtain

It's time to add some pizzazz to this guest bathroom with a shower curtain. The quartz vanity top has rust, gray, black, cream and yellow in ti. This bold butterfly fabric blends beautifully. A 3" rust band along the top and sides makes it pop.

In this post I will show you an easy way to apply banding.

PHOTO FIRST ROW LEFT - The two widths of butterfly fabric are cut, pattern matched, seamed, hemmed to length and are ready for the banding.

PHOTO TOP ROW CENTER - I cut the banding into 8" strips, folded in half, and ironed flat. Then I folded in 1" on the top band and ironed flat. I then ironed the back of the banding strip wider than the front.

PHOTO FIRST ROW RIGHT - Next I placed the banding strip on the shower curtain 3" back from the edge.

PHOTO SECOND ROW LEFT - Stitch along the ironed in seam line.

PHOTO SECOND ROW CENTER - Fold banding to the back and pin in place.

PHOTO SECOND ROW RIGHT - On the right side of the shower curtain stitch very close to the banding.

PHOTO THIRD ROW LEFT - Mitre the top corners and stitch closed.
